Portraying the intensity of athletic training and competition, Peak explores the interiority, affect, and emotional vulnerability of powerlifters by juxtaposing interview dialogue and poetry written by powerlifter Sebastian Rios-Sialer with a set of deadlifts that increasingly challenge his physicality. I play several roles during the performance including coach, referee, and loader, staging the various relationships and forms of intimacy that surround Sebastian in competition.
