Commissioned by Locust Projects, Miami for Untitled Art Fair, Miami
bout is a performance involving two boxers whose gloves are mic’d in order to build a soundscape of their sparring. We feature different boxers in the cities where we stage the work who each add their own unique insight. The tropes of George Bellows’ brutal boxing paints (which inspired the choreography) are reconfigured through a tender collaborative structure that subverts the masculinity that has come to be associated with the sport.
